    John Johnson

    Conference Co-Chair

As an advocate for a better tomorrow and a voice for collective action, John envisions more inclusive landscapes in medicine, STEM, and society. In his final year as a University of Alberta Honours Physiology student, John hopes to showcase MedX as a collection of educational opportunities, connections, and resources for underrepresented demographics in medicine. Outside of academia, research and volunteerism, John enjoys meeting people from diverse walks of life and strives to appreciate culture and character. He also spends a fair portion of his time disputing with his twin brother Co-Chair.

    Peter Johnson

    Conference Co-Chair

In contemporary society, there exists a continual need for education and awareness about medicine and a resource for aspiring physicians and practitioners. Peter is enrolled in the final year of his Honours Physiology program at the University of Alberta and he empathizes with students who are in need of these resources. By co-chairing and establishing the first MedX conference in Edmonton, Peter anticipates to make these resources more accessible to students who may not necessarily be able to obtain them. In addition to MedX, Peter researches human behaviour, is a running enthusiast, and practices the art of relaxation in his spare time.

In his spare time, Richard loves travelling, hanging out with friends, playing badminton, and binging on YouTube.

    Teresa Chan

    Planning Committee Member

Currently a Psychology Specialization student at the University of Alberta, Teresa knows that her future career will be in healthcare, but remains open-minded on where specifically. Regardless of where she goes though, she hopes to be involved in improving treatments and attitudes towards mental health and chronic illness. Teresa enjoys contributing to new initiatives, but is is also interested in consolidating resources between different projects, and she hopes MedX will be an opportunity to continue doing so. Beyond her studies, she typically spends her time volunteering, making (and eating!) food, as well as spending time with friends and family.
